BETD 2024: H2-diplo accompanied delegation from Kazakhstan

From March 18th to 20th March 2024, the 10th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) took place and the H2-diplo Office Astana organized a working trip to Berlin, Germany for partners from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

H2-diplo continues its efforts supporting its partner countries with the decarbonization and diversification of their economies with green hydrogen and to enable exchange formats such as study trips. Therefor for this year’s BETD, a working trip to Berlin, Germany was organized by the H2-diplo office in Astana. The Kazakh delegation was led by Vice Minister Sungat Esimkhanov to participate in the tenth anniversary Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue conference.

During the conference, Vice Minister Sungat Esimkhanov took part in a panel session on “Sustainability Standards in Green Hydrogen,” where he discussed the measures being taken to ensure a sustainable development of green hydrogen in Kazakhstan.
As Vice Minister Esimkhanov emphasized in his speech, “Kazakhstan is actively working on the development of green hydrogen,” recognizing its potential in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in industry, transportation, and energy.
The importance of the strategic partnership with Germany in the energy sector and cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy and renewable energy sources was particularly emphasized.
Meetings on the sidelines of the conference with partners from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the German Energy Agency (DENA), as well as with the head of the GIZ project H2-diplo Mr. Hendrik Meller, highlighted the common desire for cooperation in the field of green energy and sustainable development.

During the meetings current issues on the climate and energy agenda were discussed, and close cooperation with the H2-diplo Office in Astana was positively noted.
Following this trip, the partners from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan expressed readiness for further cooperation and outlined plans for joint events in the near future with the H2-diplo office.
