H2-diplo Office

Ukraine

Official opening: May 2022

The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine has changed tremendously the country’s priorities and possibilities for implementing energy policy. First priority lies now on ensuring supply security and the repair of the energy infrastructure. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian government as well as Germany, the EU and other partners are trying to look ahead and not lose sight of the 2060 climate neutrality goal of Ukraine. For example, the Recovery Plan (Blueprint) envisages a massive increase in renewable energy by 2032 as well as the development of electrolysis capacity. The hydrogen transport infrastructure is intended to connect the production sites in Ukraine with both Ukrainian customers and those in the EU.

The H2-diplo office Kyiv supports the preparations for the development of the Ukrainian hydrogen economy and its competitiveness in the European / international market in the context of reconstruction. This approach is complementary to the Federal Ministry of Economics’ energy policy dialogue.
