Kazakhstan, with its vast potential for renewable energies, has adopted a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Green hydrogen and its derivates are meant to help achieve this goal. The H2-diplo office in Astana supports the development of green hydrogen’s role in Kazakhstan, complementing the hydrogen activities taking place within the German-Kazakh energy dialogue conducted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action.

Highlighting the transformative potential of renewable energy and green hydrogen, the ‘Shaping Central Asia’s Future Energy Landscape’ conference in Aktau brought together experts to foster regional collaboration and accelerate the shift towards a sustainable energy future.
The Green Hydrogen Training in Aktau successfully concluded, equipping university educators from Central Asia with essential knowledge on Renewable Power-to-X (PtX) technologies. This initiative strengthens Kazakhstan’s position as a regional leader in renewable energy and supports global climate commitments.
