H2-diplo Office

Angola

Official opening: February 2022

Angola is one of Africa’s largest oil producers, yet it aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 24% by 2030 (compared to 2015) and increase the share of renewable energy in domestic electricity production to 70% by 2025. The country also has major plans to produce green hydrogen. First projects for the export of green ammonia are currently being developed. Building on its existing technical expertise and transport infrastructures from the oil and gas sector, Angola is well-positioned to transition to a more sustainable energy future.

As part of the Angolan-German energy partnership, the H2-diplo office in Luanda is supporting the Angolan government in this endeavour. The Angolan-German H2-diplo office is implemented by the German Delegation of Industry and Commerce in Angola (AHK) and works closely with the German embassy in Luanda.
