German-Nigerian Energy Transition Dialogue with State Secretary Jennifer Morgan

On 6th May 2024, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nigeria and the German-Nigerian Hydrogen Office GIZ, hosted the German-Nigeria Energy Transition Dialogue on the occasion of the state visit to Nigeria of Jennifer Morgan, State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action, Federal Foreign Office, Germany.

Some of the key objective of the event was to facilitate knowledge exchange, foster collaboration, and explore opportunities in the energy transition drive between Germany and Nigeria, discuss policy frameworks, incentives, and regulatory measures needed to promote low-carbon energy in both countries. The session also served as platform to share updates of activities within the energy transition dialogue in both Nigeria and Germany as well as best practices and future plans while also facilitating interactions among stakeholders, including government representatives, industry leaders, researchers, and investors.


The event had in attendant, representatives from relevant Nigerian ministries and agencies, German companies, government officials and development partners, diplomats, representatives from the private sector, including energy companies and technology providers, academics and researchers in the field of hydrogen, international organizations and development partners and also members of the Press.

The global energy transition can only succeed if international energy and climate cooperation are intensified, Germany and the EU are committed to partnering with Nigeria to support its energy transition and its efforts towards climate neutrality.
