Nigeria is currently the largest oil producer in Africa, but aims for 20% emissions reduction by 2030. Nigeria is ambitious to increase their share of renewable energies significantly and aims to become climate neutral by 2060.

The H2-diplo office in Abuja supports the German Federal government’s political dialogue with Nigeria within the framework of the German-Nigerian energy partnership and is advising on the potentials green hydrogen can offer.

A study tour to Germany enabled H2-policy exchange between German and Nigerian hydrogen experts.
The German-Nigerian Hydrogen Office (H2-diplo) hosted a side-event at WACEE 2024, discussing the potential of green hydrogen in Nigeria’s industrial decarbonization journey.
